Can’t wait for the release of the Stanton Warriors new album ‘Warriors’. My spys tell me it’s due a March release. That said, my spys are always wrong. Always! God knows what I pay them for…
Vivienne Westwood has taste. You may think this is a glaringly obvious statement, after close to forty years wowing the fashion world with her provocative designs, from the early punk days to her presence at this years shows in Paris, London, Milan, New York and London. To stay relevant for so long is hard to do in any field, but in the fickle fashion world, it takes someone with rare vision and a finger firmly attached to the ‘pulse’ to survive.
So how does Viv ensure her continuing relevance? Well, of course the frocks have got to be spot on for a start, but you can’t just throw a model down the catwalk without an achingly cool soundtrack to which they can shake their hips. Who you gonna call? Jerry Bouthier of course!

Jerry, Vivienne and JBAG’s other half Andrea Gorgerino have been collaborating on show soundtracks for few years now and if you can find them, our there in the interweb, they’re all great little mixes in their own right. Grab this one while it’s about. More Jerry Bouthier to come. So keep your eyes peeled x
First time I heard this I loved it. It’s a party tune and we like that here. You could drop this at a wake and even the bereaved would have to wiggle it a bit.
The Limousines are Eric Victorino and Giovanni Giusti from San Jose. Their debut album Get Sharp is getting an April release through Dangerbird records, home to Delphic, Beady Eye, Hot Hot Heat and The Dears and they’ve been playing alongside the likes of Sleighbells, Matt & Kim, Weezer and Temper Trap. If you’re going to name drop, these would be good names to drop.
Aswell as catchy pop melodies, The Limousine’s have an eye for an lyric. Check this from Very Busy People –
‘WE’LL END UP NUMB FROM PLAYING VIDEO GAMES AND WE’LL GET SICK OF HAVING SEX AND WE’LL GET FAT FROM EATING CANDY AS WE DRINK OURSELVES TO DEATH WE’LL STAY UP LATE MAKING MIX TAPES PHOTOSHOPPING PICTURES OF OURSELVES WHILE WE MASTURBATE TO THESE PIXELATED VIDEOS OF STRANGERS FUCKING THEMSELVES’
Beady Eye would kill for lines like that.

I first heard of Tommie Sunshine through his collaborations with Figure and since then I’ve been snapping up everything he puts out. Hailing from Chicago, but resident in Brooklyn, Tommie’s been around music all his life, which reveals itself in his eclectic/no genre but dancing style. This year he’s been responsible for one of my favourite reworks in his (and Figures) edit of Britney’s ‘Hold it Against Me’, (where they omit the shitty dubstep that caused all the controversy), and supplied the vocals on Shinchi Osawa’s excellent ‘Love Will Guide You‘, which is one of my tunes of the year so far. Along the way he’s worked with/on Green Velvet, Peaches, Lady Gaga and Bart B More, adding vocals to Sharam Jey, Tomcraft and The Ashton Shuffle and this one by Les Visiteurs, that is one of my faves from Back In The Day.
Add to that his new mix, which you need to play very loud and you could say that Tommie Sunshine has burst onto my particular scene in a big way.

If you haven’t already, you should get over to Tommie’s Soundcloud and check out his stuff.
This week I have mainly been listening to bands with Cinnamon in their name. Don’t know how this came about, but I really did find three such bands. And they’re all really good.
First on the spice trail is Cinnamon Chasers from London who are ‘Currently experimenting with philosophy and magic to create meaning amidst the randomness of existence.’. Aren’t we all, eh? Aren’t we all…
Cinnamon Chasers – Science LP Teaser
The Cinnamon Chasers new album Science is out now and you can get it over at their website
Ironically enough, just the other day, I was listening to someone on the radio talking about cinnamon and the fact that there are fourteen thousand Indonesian islands and that this spice only grows on two of them. Some kind of strange cinnamon shit is going on in my world. Perhaps it has something to do with 2012 and the world ending…
NEXT – is simply The Cinnamons from Glasgow, creating great indy synth pop you can bounce around to. I was guided towards these by a friend on Twitter, which goes to show that I’m not making this Cinnamon Week stuff up. Why would I make it up?
The Cinnamons – Welcome to the Business
The third Cinnamon, Cinammon Fuzz, played with Bearstronaut the other day and I just happened to notice the name, again on Twitter. That was within two days of hearing about The Cinnamons and properly freaked me out. And I hadn’t even heard Cinnamon Chasers yet!!
Anyway, Cinnamon Fuzz make some great Killers sounding gems and if you check out their featured pic you’ll have to agree they’re pretty snazzy dressers too.
