The Whip – Wired Together (Album Sampler)

I’ve been waiting for three years for The Whip’s new album, watching teaser videos of them in the studio, reading their tweets on the recording progress, catching the odd snippet of new material in live footage, all the time thinking ‘COME ON, HURRY UP!’ I’m not the best at waiting for stuff to happen.

Finally then, their new album Wired Together is due to be released in…(sigh)…September! But not to worry, because there’s five tracks off the release to tide us over until then.

The Whip – Wired Together (Sampler)

Wired Together was produced with Jagz Kooner and it carries on where ‘X-Marks Destination’ left off, with stylish dance floor orientated beats and Bruce’s distinctive vocal, sounding a bit like Ian Brown in places. The blurb says it is ‘a more lyrical version of the bands dance music’. There are more words.

Wired Together is available for pre-order from the bands web site today and you’ll get five tracks off the album straight away when you do.

The Whip are playing the Wireless Festival, July 2nd, in Hyde Park and will be appearing at The Music’s farewell gigs at the Brixton Academy on 4th August and Leeds Academy on 5th/6th August.

BeatauCue – Falcon Punch EP

BeatauCue, the artists with a name I find it almost impossible remembering how to spell. Apparently the name is a mix of DJ vocabulary and something very rude in French. It’s given me some sort of dyslexia anyway and now I have to write it down two or three times a day, just to get it into my head.

Alexis and Mederic are two French lads from Caen and their new EP, Falcon Punch, is their third to be released on Kitsune, since Cha Cha Cha in spring last year. Falcon Punch is an original six track EP, which starts slowly with opening track ‘Close’ then pretty much smashes the electro crap out of you for the next five tracks. The title track especially is a monster and ‘H.O.W.L’, a collaboration with dance titan Shinichi Osawa, is a throbbing battering ram of a tune, which has much the same effect on me as the synonymous Falcon Punch.

The EP is released as a Beatport exclusive on June 27th and then on general release July4th. Get a taste of it in the downloadable minimix below

It’s Fathers Day, so Daddy’s allowed to post.

Tommie Sunshine has a new tune out, on Ultra Records, released July 5th.  ‘Tonight’s The Night’ is a harder, more aggressive affair than usual from Mr Sunshine, which maybe thanks to the influence of Bart B More and Jan Driver, who produced and mastered the track. It definitely has that Boys Noize feel to it and we love that a lot.  It features the vocals of Tiffany Roth, of  Midnight Magic, who has a proper disco diva range, illustrated brilliantly on MM’s own ‘Beam Me Up’, from last year.

We’ve only got a taster to post for now, unfortunately, but if you press repeat a few times, it’ll be like you’ve got the whole track!

Tommie Sunshine – Tonight’s The Night (Preview)

Tommie is producing and releasing music quicker than his hair grows this year and that’s pretty damn quick, so we’ll move on to a new release on Brooklyn Fire, before something else comes out.

‘Bangtuk’ by Fuser is a Dutch house leveller, with a rich seam of old school rave running through it. Think 1991, think Quadrophonia, Ellis Dee and you’re in the vicinity. It’s going to appeal to the techno heads and the old timers in equal parts and it’s getting heavy support from Tiesto, Bart b More and Laidback Luke. This will be the third release on Brooklyn Fire and you can get you hands on it June 28th.

Marlena Shaw – California Soul (A Skillz Remix)

Finally one of the tracks of the year has been released! Ever since I heard this remix of  Marlena Shaw’s ‘California Soul’ by A Skillz, I’ve wanted a copy. The one minute of so rip on Soundcloud wasn’t cutting it and I’d resorted to hassling A Skillz himself and I really don’t tend to hassle anyone about anything, as a rule.

Anyway, looks like a lot of other people were doing the same thing and the man has relented, giving away the remix for FREE. Download quickly, before it reaches the limit. You need this tune in your life!

To mark a series of  worldwide club nights, Kitsune head honcho, Gildas Loaec, is releasing a mix of ‘some of the hottest tracks in his highly prized DJ wallet’.
