In the continued absence of any proper English summer, let’s enjoy a tune that conjures up at least some metaphorical sunshine.
‘Glockenspiel Song’ is the third release from Nottingham’s Dog Is Dead, out on Atlantic Records July 23rd. I remember seeing it around, on various blogs, last year, but with the imminent arrival of debut album ‘All Our Favourite Stories’, the band wanted to re-release it as a forerunner to the album.
Dog Is Dead – Glockenspiel Song
The harmonies are immense all the way through this. In fact they’re a major part of Dog Is Dead’s sound, along with the upfront drums that remind me of Everything Everything. David Kosten, who produced Everything Everything’s ‘Man Alive’, is co-producing the bands debut and there are definite similarities in sound. In a good way.
