School of Seven Bells have released a video for their version of Joey Ramone’s ‘I Got Knocked Down (But I’ll Get Up)’. The track was the last SSoB piece recorded by band member Benjamin Curtis, before his death from T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, at the end of 2013.
Beni’s Protect/Can’t Hide EP is released July 14th on Modular Records. Featuring Anita Blay (CocknBullKid) and Alex Burnett (Sparkadia).
Nimmo and the Gauntletts are a five piece from London, fronted by Sarah Nimmo and Reva Gauntlett. I got that feeling when I first heard the new EP, on Kitsune, that I’d heard them before. Not in any derivative sense, more that the assuredness of their sound suggests they’ve been around for a while already. In the SS book of Pop Fame Equations (™), this usually means that success is guaranteed in the very near future. Factor in the hefty remix notables on the EP (the Joe Goddard remix is especially good) and someone somewhere is smiling favourably on Nimmo and the Gauntletts.
‘Others’ is out July 14th on Kitsune
Nicely restrained remix of London Grammar’s ‘Strong’ from RAC, as featured on the ‘If You Want It’ remix album. Perfect for the mini heatwave we’re going through.
Alright, I’ve read somewhere that this is political and the title is certainly very timely. However mentioning Snowden and leaking secrets doesn’t constitute a political song, when it’s really just Peaches telling you to hum on her clit.
Great to hear her again though. ‘Whistleblower’ is taken from Mumbai Science’s forthcoming debut album ‘Deja Vu’, out on June 16th, through Lektroluv.
