Is Tropical are back with their third single off debut album ‘Native To’. Available to buy through Kitsune/Co Op on 31st October ‘Lies’ is a straight out indy disco stomper, with the band even sneaking in a cheeky slowed down slice of Alice Deejay ‘Better Off Alone’ (which drove me to near insanity, trying to remember what the fuck it was. Thanks to Breezy, for answering the phone and putting me out of my misery).

The Shoe is the debut short from French ‘cultural provocateur’, Andre Saraiva. The soundtrack was selected by Gildas, from Kitsune, and features Is Tropical, The Virgins, Vandaveer and Heartsrevolution, which is a happy coincidence (see above). …I have no clue what this video is about. I do know that it’s directed by Edouard Salier and that the Civlization EP will be released on June 6th and will feature remixes from Mr Oizo and The Fucking Champs

The Megaforce video for Is Tropical is ace and it’s the video Megaforce have wanted to make since ‘the age of 6’. It’s certainly something I’ve never seen before. Good job, Megaforce!

Ahead of the release of their debut album, Native To, on June 13th Is Tropical are letting go a free download of lead single ‘The Greeks’ and a gratis remix download of it from Moonlight Matters. The remix funks up the original nicely, with some proper swing your pants geetar, ebbing into the ‘Give it away’ vocal before chopping the bouzouki section into a frantic Vanessa Mae-esque string solo. Lovely rework, get it below.

Is Tropical – The Greeks
Is Tropical are another of those bands that I seem to have known about for years, even though they haven’t actually released an album yet. Not long to wait for that now, with June 13th being mooted as drop date for Natives.
I like Is Tropical. I like the hidden identities, as though Slip Knot had been caught out sans their masks in a scarf shop. I like the Cure-esque opening to ‘The Greeks’ and how it goes on to sound like early pilled up Klaxons. With TDCC, Polarsets and Is Tropical, Kitsune look like they could be cornering this summer. I like that aswell.
