Moonlight Matters – Come For Me EP
Moonlight Matters debut EP ‘Come For Me’ is out now exclusively on Beatport, with a wider release available from June 18th. Sebastiaan Vandevoorde, aka Moonlight Matters, seems to have been around for ages now and it came as a surprise to find that this was his first ‘real’ release, after a year of stunning remixes. The EP has that 80’s Pettibone style, crossed with disco and features the vocal talents of Hercules and Love Affairs, Gustaph on the title track, whilst Starving Yet Full, from Azari III, adds his upfront style to ‘Standing Up For Love’. ‘Rain Dance’ makes up the trio of originals and there are remixes from Punks Jump Up, Junior and Herr Styler to make this just about one of the best debut EP’s you’ll hear this year. You can download the minimix below.
Mark Ronson & The Business Intl – Record Collection 2012
Mark Ronson is releasing a new version of ‘Record Collection’ through Kitsune on September 5th. Featuring the vocal talents of Pharrell, Wretch 32, Wiley and MNDR and remixes from CSS, Logo, Moonlight Matters, Plastic Plates, Database and Perseus, this could be one of the classiest releases of the year. The new version has livened the original up a lot, injecting some 2012 bounce. Bringing in Wretch 32 and MNDR, is a good move, especially considering Wretch’s rising star value at the moment.
Of the remixes, Kitsune faves Logo and Moonlight Matters stand out for me, Moonlight Matters especially introducing his trademark funk to deliver a hands in the air rework, that brings to mind something from a Rocky movie.Not sure if that’s what he was planning, but that’s what we got.
‘All certified fucking bangers’ says Ronson himself.

{Note – version I’ve posted above features Prof Green as well, but he doesn’t appear on the released version}
Shindu – Happy House EP
I heard the riff to this tune the other day in The Weeknd’s ‘House of Balloons’ and to my shame I couldn’t think what the hell it was. I mean it’s one of my favourite Siouxsie and the Banshees tracks and my mind was a gaping blank.
Imagine my surprise then, when I heard this version of Happy House by Belgian trio Shindu. This version is a beach party by comparison, keeping the riff, but replacing the guitar of the original with a steel drum, shaking its bikini clad ass down the shoreline. Despite the party atmosphere though, the lyrics retain the ‘sarcastic’ tones of Siouxsie’s vocal. We’re singing about happy things, but we’re not really very happy at all. We’re all quite sane!
Shindu – Happy House EP Minimix
Happy House was produced by Moonlight Matters aka Sebastiaan Vandevoorde and the EP has remixes from Herr Styler, JBAG, Midnight Savari, Polydor and Martians.

Irenic
Ahead of the release of their debut album, Native To, on June 13th Is Tropical are letting go a free download of lead single ‘The Greeks’ and a gratis remix download of it from Moonlight Matters. The remix funks up the original nicely, with some proper swing your pants geetar, ebbing into the ‘Give it away’ vocal before chopping the bouzouki section into a frantic Vanessa Mae-esque string solo. Lovely rework, get it below.
