Everything Everything are following the adage ‘strike while the iron is hot’ with the release of the third single off Top 5 album Arc. Why not. First single ‘Cough Cough’ was the bands first Top 40 hit and follow up ‘Kemosabe’ was the most played track on Radio 1, in its first week of release.
‘Duet’ is due for release on March 24th and you can still grab Arc at any self respecting retailer.

The band are also playing a sold out NME Awards show at Heaven on Feb 13th, before embarking on a UK wide tour, European tour and then on, to conquer the States. If you’d like to catch them live, then you’re going to have to head to either Europe, or jet off to New York, because the UK leg is sold out.
Everything Everything never really caught my attention first time round, with the release of their debut album ‘Man Alive’. I don’t know why. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood for them, maybe I wasn’t ready for them. Something about their staccato, art rock style got right on my tits. It made me feel like the musical equivalent of an anti intellectual student basher.
‘Cough Cough’, their last single, was ace though, still demonstrating the bands faculty for bending the structural rules of song writing, but with more tuneful results. This willingness to become more accessible (after all it’s great to be ‘critically acclaimed’, but you want to sell some records aswell), while still sounding original, is one of the reasons Everything Everything have won me over.
They’ve followed up brilliantly with new single ‘Kemosabe’, which possesses one of the choruses of the year and had me attempting a dangerous falsetto. It’s released on January 6th, with the album ‘Arc’ due out on the 14th of January. Stream ‘Kemosabe’ below

Kodaline are swiftly picking up admirers, with Zane Lowe featuring them on his Radio 1 show, as his ‘next hype’, XFM adding them to the playlist and (rough with the smooth) Fearne Cotton naming them her ‘big thing’. The Irish four piece haven’t really caught me 100% yet, they’re a bit languid for me in my present mood, but this remix from Everything Everything hits the spot.
